A home energy audit is the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient. An audit will show you problems that may, when corrected, save you significant amounts of money over time. During the audit, you can pinpoint where your house is losing energy. Audits also determine the efficiency of your home's heating and cooling systems. An audit may also show you ways to conserve hot water and electricity. You can perform a simple energy audit yourself, or have a professional energy auditor carry out a more thorough audit.

FAQ's

Q: How can infrared scanning help my home?
A: Infrared scanning can prevent continued energy loses, fire hazards, locate pests/termites and identify leaks and past moisture damage.

Q: What kind of problems can be identified with IR scanning?
A: Leaking roofs, shower pans and pipes, moisture in wood, carpet and vinyl floors, insulation, dangerous electrical connections, mold and mildew growth, and identification of mice, pests and termites are but a few of the things IR can see.

Q: Will you have to destroy any walls or structures to examine my home?
A: NO. Our scanning is non-invasive and will create no more noise than a regular camera. Nothing in your home will be affected.

Q: How will I know the results of the IR scan?
A: While we are at your home, we will show you if we are seeing anything abnormal. We may even ask you to mark problem areas with "blue tape" for future reference. In addition will will provide you with a detailed report which will itemize any problem areas with pictures included. We also will be glad to tell you that your home is in great shape.

Q: How much will it cost?
A: It depends on a number of issues. Do you want your entire house scanned or do you want a specific problem area scanned?

  • Area Scanning $150.00
  • Entire House (3000 s/f and under) $279.00
                       (3000 s/f to 4999 s/f) $359.00
                       (5000 s/f and up) $479.00

Q: How often should I do this?
A: Infrared scanning of households is a relatively new technology. Preventative maintenance is often 1/4 of the cost of emergency repairs. We think between 18 and 24 months would be more than sufficient. I am sure your insurance company would look favorably upon any effort to safeguard the condition of your home.
